Jane Hamshaw, of Ashtons HR Consulting, talks about the how Ashtons have utilised Apprenticeships across the business.
In February 2014 Ashtons Legal embarked on an initiative of utilising Apprenticeships in a number of roles in various departments across the business.
The first successful Apprentice, who completed a Business Administration Apprenticeship whilst undertaking a Legal Secretary role, has gone on to develop into a very competent Paralegal, has completed Level 3 and is now studying Level 6 Chartered Institute of Legal Executives exams.
Over the course of the last four years Ashtons have employed over 30 Apprentices and currently have a further 9 studying both Business Administration and Customer Service Apprenticeships. With support from our preferred Apprenticeship Provider, WS Training, and guidance from our own employees, the majority of these have completed their Apprenticeship within a twelve to eighteen month period.
Employing Apprentices gives Ashtons the opportunity to utilise their Apprenticeship Levy as well as introducing new employees to the Legal profession, both straight from full time education and from other spheres of employment.
